The curriculum is consistent across both the 8-Month Course and the Intensive, with all trainees completing the same total of 200 hours of study and practice.
The study of Yogasana forms the foundation of this module. You’ll explore the physical postures in depth — their alignment, benefits & contraindications — and how to teach them safely and intelligently.
We’ll examine the principles & practice of Hatha Yoga, including Sun Salutations and Vinyasa Flow, and explore the rise of Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra, including their lineages, benefits & modern interpretations.
Meditation will be approached simply & creatively, with visualisations you can use in class.
You’ll learn uncomplicated Pranayama (breath ratios suitable for group practice) and study sound & mantra, exploring how they can be used both within asana and on their own.
We’ll also consider the importance of relaxation techniques in our busy lives and the tools that help initiate the relaxation response.
You’ll begin planning your own six-week beginners course, combining warm-up, main practice & relaxation, with clear aims and student outcomes in mind.
Your teaching skills & communication will define you as a teacher. You’ll become confident in class preparation, planning & theming, and learn to teach in ways appropriate to different students and group dynamics.
We’ll focus on the skill of reading the room, refining language, cueing & demonstration, and exploring how to integrate Sanskrit names, music, tone & space-holding into your classes.
Healthy student–teacher boundaries, insurance, ParQ forms, affiliations and licences are all covered.
You’ll also explore self-care — how to sustain your energy while supporting others — and develop professional awareness through The Business of Yoga, including the realities of teaching in gyms, studios, or independently.
The peer teaching component (5–8 hours) allows you to practice teaching in a supportive group setting, followed by feedback & discussion.
You’ll also receive 3 hours of personal mentoring with Lucy to refine your teaching voice and address individual goals.
You’ll explore the foundations of yoga philosophy and how ancient teachings remain deeply relevant today.
Study includes:

We’ll discuss how these texts inform daily practice, ethics & the inner life of a teacher.

The application & practicum element of the course gives you space to practise teaching in a supportive, real-world way.
You’ll spend this time teaching peers, friends or family, refining your confidence, pacing, language & class management skills in preparation for your final graduation class at the studio.
As part of your coursework, you’ll also design a six-week beginner’s yoga course, demonstrating your understanding of sequencing, structure, aims & intended outcomes. Each trainee then teaches the final week of that course in the studio on graduation day.
This practicum period is about developing authentic teaching experience — applying what you’ve learned, experimenting with your voice & style, and building the practical confidence to lead others safely & effectively.
