FAQs

Still not sure if it'll be right for you? Check through some frequently asked questions and then send a message.

We focus on Hatha yoga primarily. Hatha Yoga classes combine elements of breathing, yoga poses & meditation & are accessible to beginners, as well as those requiring a considered, unrushed approach to yoga. You will create a 6-week, progressive beginners course & be assessed on your teaching of week 6. This approach will allow you to build a clientele from the outset. The 6-week course will include modified sun-salutations in weeks 1-3, with you teaching a more traditional sun-sal by week 6. Sun salutations & the transitions that link the poses together are the building blocks we then go on to create Vinyasa Flow sequences with. We will look at flow sequencing in our practical sessions. You can assume you will be able to class plan for all sorts of clients & encourage their exploration of yoga with you at their side by the end of the course.

You don't need to be gymnastic superstar to become a teacher. The teachers who do the best at our studios are those who can teach appropriate yoga for the clientele. Being 'good at poses' is not what we are looking for, we want teachers who can read a room, teach from the heart & get as many people practicing yoga as possible. Being able to do tricky poses is not what makes you a good teacher.

Then this will be ideal for you. There's not enough time in regular class situations to delve deep into all the areas we will look at on the course. Over the year your confidence & understanding of what yoga really is will increase & you may find that teaching is not what you thought it'd be. Similarly, having a deepened connection to anatomy, history & a multitude of poses & methods will only heighten your enjoyment & appreciation of your own practice. So, go for it!

If you have a calling to teach pregnant women, your personal situation is of no consequence. Qualified male yoga teachers are equally welcome. More important is your desire to teach accessible yoga to women whose bodies won't feel like yours, they will have aches & pains & carry extra weight & moving them is a great responsibility.

"One of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. Lucy Leslie has been a truly inspirational leader/teacher and I am grateful to her for sharing her experience and love for yoga to us."

"I am a recent graduate of the Sussex Yoga Training's 200 Hour Course. I have practiced a lot of yoga through my life but as soon as I signed up to do the course, I was nervous that I didn't know enough to begin the teacher training. I needn't have worried. Everything is covered. Lucy is happy to pass on her wealth of yoga knowledge. She is direct, clear, caring and encourages each individual student find their own style. I am confident and comfortable that with the training I received I can teach yoga to any level. I'd also like to add that the location at the Lake, is the most beautiful place I've ever practiced yoga."

"Lucy is a great teacher, and she has put a lot of thought into designing a course which enables each student to develop their own style of yoga teaching. All aspects of poses, structuring classes and the history and context of yoga are covered, as is building a yoga business, whether online or face to face. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, made some great friends and wish I could do it all again as I had such a fun time. And her studio is breathtaking!"

"I have been on a journey with this course. It has developed my yoga experience immensely. My own practice is better and my understanding on how to teach has unfolded. We have been given space to find our own direction. Excellent modules in the history of yoga. Using anatomy online was brilliant as we can cover that remotely then in physical form. Lucy is direct and confident in her delivery. I would highly recommend this course."

Exceeded All Expectations!

"Having been a student practicing yoga under Lucy's excellent instruction at her studio for the last three years I had high hopes for the teacher training course when I signed up, but it totally exceeded my expectations! The course content was exceptional, delivered by highly experienced and authentic yoga teachers - I particularly enjoyed our unit on sound and mantras. When we entered yet another lockdown due to the pandemic Lucy swiftly acted; taking the course onto Zoom and changing the schedule so that we were able to focus on our theory which meant that by the time the studio could re-open we had the last few weekends totally dedicated to asana labs and teaching practice. If you are looking for the highest quality teacher training, set in the most beautiful studio set in the middle of a lake with stunning 360 degree views, then look no further than Sussex Yoga Training."

"I’ve wanted to do a yoga teacher training course for a number of years now but never knew where to start or which course to book. I wanted to train part-time whilst still working and many courses were abroad which didn’t work for me. Then I came across Lake View Yoga and knew instantly it was meant to be. An absolutely stunning venue with the best quality of yoga I have ever attended. Lucy is an amazing teacher, so supportive, encouraging and full of wisdom! I learnt so much from her and my other trainees and truly had a life changing experience. It takes a lot of commitment to study part-time but it is completely worth it and has the added benefit of being able to fit the course around your life. I know I’ve had the opportunity to learn from the best and feel much more prepared for the world of teaching than I would have done in an intense shorter course. I can’t recommend this course and Lucy enough, you won’t find a better teacher and more beautiful studio anywhere else!"

"I highly recommend Lucy’s teacher training. The materials provided are in depth but not over complicated. The subjects covered within the yoga sphere are touched upon and talked about with sensitivity, respect and knowledge. The personal experience and the generosity to share it by Lucy has been invaluable. She is astute in making every individual welcome and the training feels personalised. I will carry this year’s learnings forward for the rest of my life. To anyone that isn’t sure, I promise if you commit yourself, this course will change you and evolve your practice in a way a review just can’t explain!"
