Two Pathways, One Qualification
Our 200-hour foundation yoga teacher training can be completed in two formats — a Weekend Course (8 months) or an Intensive (3 months) — both leading to the same recognised qualification.
Weekend Course: one weekend per month, over eight months, 9.15am to 5pm — ideal for parents and those balancing work or study.
Intensive Course: weekdays, once per month, across three months, 9.15am to 5pm — perfect for those seeking a focused, immersive experience.
After completing your training days, you’ll finish your coursework and take part in a scheduled graduation day at the studio, where each trainee teaches the final section of their six-week beginner’s course.
All trainees receive individual mentoring during their course, and should attend Lucy’s studio/Zoom classes for free* throughout to consolidate their own practice and build teaching confidence.
The Big Questions: Recognition, Philosophy & Why This Training Stands Out
Professional Recognition
I am an senior yoga teacher & trainer with the Yoga Pros. Graduates receive the Sussex Yoga Training 200-Hour Certificate, which provides you with the eligibility to register with the Yoga Pros as a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher.
The qualification is fully recognised for professional insurance within the UK and across most international providers, allowing you to begin teaching confidently in studios, gyms, or independently once certified.
Post-Lineage Yoga
Post-lineage yoga moves beyond allegiance to living gurus and challenges the systems that have enabled misuse of power or cultural appropriation. At Sussex Yoga Training, we work collaboratively to create an environment that is inclusive, accessible and equal for all bodies, genders & backgrounds.
We learn with one another, not from above — as equals from the very start.
Respect for the Tradition
We approach yoga’s 5,000-year-old heritage with humility and accuracy.
If we are to use the word yoga — describing a practice of self-realisation — we must use it respectfully and with cultural awareness.
You’ll explore yoga’s philosophical roots while learning how to apply them sensitively and meaningfully in modern teaching.
Why Choose This Training
This is a non-lineage course, meaning we don’t follow any single guru or branded modern style.
Instead, we study and compare multiple traditions, drawing primarily on the teachings of Patanjali, as interpreted by Desikachar and Mohan.
The syllabus is designed to create yoga teachers who take their professionalism as seriously as their practice — valuing ethics, clarity & self-care as much as creative class design.
You’ll graduate able to teach safely and skilfully, plan inclusive classes, set yourself up professionally, approach teaching online, maintain healthy boundaries, and apply yogic principles in everyday life.
Mentorship & Beyond
Throughout your training you’ll receive three hours of personal mentoring, peer feedback, and continuous group support.
Graduates remain part of the Sussex Yoga Training community and are invited to continue developing through CPD courses, workshops & further training.
